A Fourth Year French class recently came fifth worldwide in a language website leaderboard.
This Is Language is an online resource used by Modern Foreign Languages teachers worldwide. One of the features on their site is a weekly global leaderboard where more than 200,000 students across the world complete French, Spanish, German and Italian exercises to earn points for their class.
Mr Desbos’ Fourth Year French class recently came fifth, with an average student score of 296.5 points. He said: “During lockdown, I have been using the videos on thisislanguage.com as listening activities for my Fourth Year students. Completing comprehension tasks based on interviews of French native speakers is an excellent way to immerse the students into the language and gradually train them for the more challenging tasks in the IGCSE listening paper. Every time they complete a task, they gained points and this class did so well that week that they were ranked fifth out of 200,00 students across the world”.
What a great motivation for the students during the lockdown, well done!
