Sixth Form

We are delighted that you are considering Trinity for the Sixth Form.
The Sixth Form experience is often the most enjoyable time at school, as students explore the subjects that interest them most within a vibrant, friendly and purposeful learning environment.

Our Sixth form is an inspiring and diverse community with many co-curricular options, as well as our enriching Diploma programme, which we believe is central to a rounded and balanced education. The opportunity to take 4 A Levels at the start of the Lower Sixth (and later choose to drop to 3) provides versatility, and our Diploma programme enables all to develop a host of study and research skills as well as soft skills which offer preparation for higher education or the world of work.

We are very proud of what our students achieve in their exams. Their results give them access to the world’s best universities and colleges, as well as competitive apprenticeships. But most of all, we are proud of who they become.

Impress

We expect all our students, both internal and external applicants, to achieve at least six GCSEs at grade 7 or above (or grade A or above) and to meet the subject specific requirements for A Level study, which can be found in our A Level Choices Guide.

Entrance exam

All students applying to Trinity School for Sixth Form will need to complete four assessments as part of their Entrance exam.  The assessments consist of a combination of computer-based and written components and are designed to assess academic ability regardless of the subjects you wish to study at A Level.

All students will sit:

  • A 50 minute adaptive computer-based assessment
  • A 30 minute written communication paper
  • A 30 minute mathematical reasoning paper.

All students will then choose their final assessment, depending on their strengths and interests.  They may choose either:

  • An additional 45 minute written communication paper, focussing on argumentative writing
  • An additional 45 minute mathematical reasoning paper, focussing on applied mathematics

Meet

If your child is successful in our entrance examinations, we will have the pleasure of inviting them to attend an interview with a member of our teaching staff.

Candidates who have performed well enough in the examinations will be invited back for interview. The interviews are a chance for us to get to know you, to discuss your ambitions, your interests, your engagement with the wider world, and what you hope to gain from studying here: we are looking to identify students who will flourish at Trinity and make the most of our academic provision whilst making a meaningful contribution to the community.
