Drama

Trinity offers a thriving co-curricular provision for students in both onstage and a wide range of backstage roles.
We offer three exciting drama productions a year for students across all year groups. Every year we transform the Concert Hall for our whole school Autumn production, alternating between plays and musicals. Recent whole school productions include ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Shakespeare in Love’.

Our second performance space plays host to our subsequent Spring and Summer shows: every year we offer our youngest students an opportunity to perform in the Lower School Summer production, and in the Spring we alternate between a Middle School and Sixth Form play. Students take on leadership opportunities, often writing and directing as well as taking lead and ensemble roles. Recent highlights include ‘Holes’ and ‘Private Peaceful’ (Middle School); ‘Lord of the Flies’ and ‘James and the Giant Peach’ (Lower School) and ‘Medea’ and ‘After Life’ (Sixth Form).

This programme is supported by smaller events showcasing academic and enrichment work: we have an annual Drama Showcase for LAMDA students, Musical Theatre Club and scholars and two Exam Showcases to preview the GCSE and A Level practical coursework.

Collaboration

Our thriving LAMDA programme enables students to pursue internationally recognised LAMDA awards, achieving grades that ultimately contribute towards UCAS points. Our weekly Drama clubs focus on invention, improvisation and communication skills that build confidence.

We regularly welcome theatre industry professionals to share their experiences, as well as offering workshops hosted by actors from companies including The National Theatre and Complicite.

Technical Theatre

Students work with our specialist Theatre Technician and visiting designers to develop their understanding of lighting, sound, set and costume design. They use our specialist resources and industry standard spaces to learn about the latest lighting boards and sound designs. This knowledge is furthered in Technical Theatre Club and by getting involved backstage in productions.
