Our very own alumus and English teacher Mr Petty made a special appearance on London TV recently.
Mr Petty wrote an insightful and moving lockdown poem called Another Hour, which was broadcast on ITV London News.
Mr Petty said: “In this poem I have tried to capture some of the ups and downs of isolation. Yes, it is difficult at times but I think positive things can come out of this. I am so proud to be part of a nation of people who have come together so valiantly in this time of crisis, and I wanted to pay tribute to them in this poem. We are all sacrificing so much, but none more so than the people who are working round the clock to keep us safe. I am immensely lucky to be isolating with a loving family and to haveĀ free time to explore my creativity. I am overwhelmed by the positive response I have had from friends and family. Remote teaching can be challenging at times, but the support from my colleagues has been exceptional, and the students have approached this time with cheerful resilience”.
Mr Petty is encouraging similar inspiring work from his students over the coming weeks, which we will share in due course.
Well done Mr Petty!
