Congratulations to this month’s Trinity Sports Players of the Month for June, the final awards of this academic year, recognising the best in attitudes to sport at Trinity.
For the last time in his role, Mr Kench, Director of Sport, explains why each student has been recognised this month:
“Third Year student Jacob has been awarded Sportsman of the month for June. Jacob has had an incredible term in Cricket, where his hard work in the winter nets have paid dividends, with some outstanding individual performances. Starting off in the U14B team, Jacob has performed well with the ball, but it his handy work with the bat that has caught the eye of the Sports Department. An impressive 107 off 56 balls against Cranmore earnt him a call up to the A team. He has handled the step up fantastically well, impressing with his free and creative scoring style.
“Alongside his performances in Cricket, he has excelled on the Athletics track, scoring huge points in the Intermediate English Schools team effort. Previously this year he has also excelled in Rugby, Rugby 7s and played a pivotal role in the successful U14A Football Cup run to the National Semi-Final. Jacob also trains with the academy at Crystal Palace FC. Well done, Jacob, truly impressive stuff.”
Mr Kench continues, “Lower Sixth student Kayla (above with her Netball teammates) has been awarded Sportswoman of the month for June. Kayla’s performances at key moments in the successful World School’s Games 1st team, were crucial to the team winning the tournament. Making long range shots at the final whistle seem to be a recurring theme and one which her team thoroughly appreciate. Away from the Netball court it has been fantastic to see Kayla’s engagement in cricket playing a pivotal role in the school’s first hard ball Cricket team where her performances helped the team get to the County Semi-Final. Well done Kayla on winning your second Sportswoman of the month title.”
Kayla was previously awarded the title in April, following her performance with the Netball team.
