After another fantastic season of cricket, Trinity’s Head of Cricket, Mr Richards (left), reflects on the highlights of 2025:

With the weather on our side, the summer term saw 165 cricket fixtures played across 10 weeks, with over 250 students representing Trinity in competitive matches. During the season, there were three centurions: Lower Sixth Tommy W for the 1st XI, Third Year Will B for the U14As, and Fourth Year Anish M for the U15As.

We also had three bowlers who took five-wicket hauls: First Year Rishi M for the U12As, Second Year Raghav K for the U13As, and Second Year Aahil Y for the U13Bs.

In addition, three students and one member of staff took hat-tricks — well done to Lower Sixth Tilly D in the Girls’ 1st XI, Third Year Oscar S in the U14As, First Year Rishi M in the U12As, and, of course, Mr Lydon in the Staff XI.

It has been great to see a real buzz for cricket in and around the school this term, with numerous standout performances and matches from both individual players and teams. A particular highlight was the MCC fixture, where both the Boys’ 1st XI and, for the first time in the school’s history, the Girls’ 1st XI took on the famous club. Both games ended in thrilling draws, with the girls needing to survive the final half-hour of play with only one wicket remaining – which they successfully did.

It has been excellent to see both the boys’ and girls’ teams developing hugely across the term, and it goes without saying that this would not have been possible without the commitment of the players, as well as the energy and expertise of the cricket coaches. A huge thank you to everyone who played or coached this season.

We learned that Trinity had been named as one of the UK’s top schools for cricket in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2025, which came out in November 2024. This is undoubtedly due to the growing numbers of students across the school who are participating in cricket, and the development of the girls’ team, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years. We also welcomed new cricket professional Alex Blake to Trinity ahead of the summer season. Alex brings a wealth of experience, having recently retired from professional cricket after an impressive 17-year career with Kent County Cricket Club. What a year! Read more
