On Tuesday 1 October, we hosted our annual Reception for the Supporters of the Trinity Bursary Fund. The event was sponsored by members of our Patron Committee, and this year the venue was the prestigious Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London. We were honoured to be welcomed by the 693rd Lord Mayor, Alderman Vincent Keaveny CBE, to what was his home when he was in office.
The evening was a celebration of everything we have achieved together to ensure that Trinity remains accessible to a diverse group of talented students, who reflect the vibrant community of the Borough of Croydon. Everyone in our school benefits from learning alongside a peer group with varied backgrounds, stories, and perspectives, which has always been a core value of Trinity.
Our keynote speaker, André Flemings (Class of 2002), a former bursary recipient who went on to inspire as School Captain, delivered an outstanding speech on why the work we do is so vital. André, now working in the DEI sector, expressed his scepticism of some initiatives he has encountered but wholeheartedly endorsed the Trinity Bursary Fund. He urged everyone to continue supporting it.
André was introduced by our current Head Boy, Jared, a bursary recipient himself, who moved the room with his heartfelt thanks. We also heard from our Chair of Governors, David Seymour, who spoke on the importance of the Bursary Fund to Trinity, as well as from our Director of Development, Jason Court, who reminded us that we have raised over £1.9 million since the fund’s inception – a fantastic collective achievement. Mr Rounds, Senior Deputy Head, highlighted our broader impact on the local community through the Trinity Partner Primary School scheme.
I extend my sincere thanks to all our supporters for their incredible commitment. To learn more about the difference you are making, please read our recently published Supporters’ Impact 2024 publication.
“In my role as Head Boy, something I’m really passionate about is giving back to the bursary programme and really being an ambassador, driving and promoting the Trinity Bursary Fund, which I have benefitted from.”
