Congratulations to our U16 Hockey team who recently competed in the England Hockey Indoor South Finals, delivering an exceptional performance and bringing home the silver medal.
Mr Giles, Head of Hockey, reports:
Throughout the tournament, the squad showcased remarkable teamwork, skill, and determination, winning every match leading up to the final.
A special mention goes to Fifth Year Aidan, who was outstanding in goal throughout the competition. His performances were key to the team’s success, making crucial saves at pivotal moments and ensuring the defence remained solid throughout the tournament.
Tom was Trinity’s top goal scorer, the penalty corner specialist, consistently delivering in the big moments in tight games.
In the final, against neighbouring school Whitgift, the team faced a tough challenge and, despite their best efforts, lost 2-0. With the scoreline at 2-0, the decision was made to pull the goalkeeper in the final five minutes to gain an outfield player advantage. The team fought valiantly, defending superbly and throwing everything they had into trying to equalize, but ultimately could not break through.
However, it was a hockey tournament filled with great moments, with every member of the 11-player squad contributing in significant ways. From the qualifiers through to the final, the team’s collective spirit and resilience were on full display. The defence was rock solid, the attack dynamic, and the squad showed incredible character in every match.
While they came up just short in the final, the silver medal reflects an incredibly successful campaign and a proud achievement for the team. Well done to everyone involved!
