We were thrilled to welcome more than 200 new starters to the school earlier this week, for a fun induction day, before the start of the new term. Junior, First, Third and Lower Sixth year groups were thrown into a day of exciting activities and challenges, where they got to know their peers and tutors while familiarising themselves with the school layout before the start of the school term.
For the Lower School students, a particular highlight of the day was the school treasure hunt, which saw them find their way around by solving various clues and puzzles in groups. The younger students also really enjoyed an inter-form bingo quiz, where they learnt more about their peers by asking each other questions to complete their individual bingo cards.
The Lower Sixth also had a jam-packed day as well, with a key highlight being an afternoon of team-building activities led by the team from WiseUp. Around 60 new students joined boys who have been right through the school, and they were mixed into different groups for each new task to help them connect with as many new people as possible across the day. One student commented saying, “It was actually really good because you got to meet people you wouldn’t normally talk to.” Another admitted, “It was slightly awkward at first, but everyone was friendly and got involved.”
In Sixth Form, we have all-girl form groups – as many join from different (often all-girl) schools across South London, Bromley and Croydon – and form tutors have been organising activities to welcome and help the girls settle in. Mrs Fulker, Teacher of Art, has a new form group of Lower Sixth, and organised mug painting and hot drinks for them during their first week.
These activities followed on nicely from the quiz and welcome dinner Lower Sixth attended before the summer, and the pre-season sport last week. There are many more activities coming up which will help them settle into Sixth Form life, and help them integrate into the Trinity community.
We hope that our new students feel settled and ready for an exciting year ahead at Trinity.
