Congratulations to the U12A Cricket team who beat Whitgift in the Surrey County Cup Final. This win means the team has qualified for the U13 ECB National Cup next year – a fantastic achievement!

Mr Richards, Head of Cricket, reports back from the thrilling match:

“The U12As travelled to Whitgift on Tuesday afternoon to take on the hosts in the Surrey County Cup final. A spot in the U13 National Cup awaited the winning team, and after we snuck home with a one-wicket win earlier in the season, it was expected to be a close contest.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Rishabh and Ansh took the attack to Whitgift. The opening pair put on 120 runs for the first wicket, with Rishabh scoring 77 off 65 balls. Ansh soon brought up his 50 off 57 balls, and some attacking stroke play by Sunny and Kavish saw us post 226/6 from our 30 overs.

Raghav  opened the bowling and took a wicket in his first and second over, leaving Whitgift at 29/2. Some excellent batting from Whitgift’s number 3 and 4 saw them reach 75/2 from 11 overs, with both sides firmly in the game. Soon after drinks, Kavish dismissed their number 3 thanks to a good catch by Alexander at mid-on. Edward, Leo, and Adam restricted the Whitgift middle order and picked up regular wickets to keep Whitgift to 165/6 from their 30 overs, meaning Trinity came away with a 61-run victory and the Surrey Cup.”

A great result – well done to the team.
