Congratulations to Trinity First Year student Sunny who has recently signed to Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club’s U12 Academy.

Sunny started playing football when he was 6 years old and initially played for his local team Bromley FC. Although he enjoys playing all sports, Sunny says, “Football has always been my no.1!”

He began training at Brighton’s pre-academy centre, or Emerging Talent Centre, based in Whyteleafe, Surrey, every Monday night from when he was in the U7 category until recently.

Sunny says, “As we live 90 minutes away from the training centre, they couldn’t offer me a trial until I was U12. As soon as the season started in September this year, I was invited in for a trial and after five weeks, they offered me a contract with the cademy. I was really happy and excited when I heard the news.”

Sunny will now play for Brighton & Hove FC U12 every Sunday and train at the academy twice a week on top of his school commitments. He says, “It’s really fun and we get to play a lot of other Premier League Clubs.”

Sunny plays for the school football team, which he says he loves just as much as playing for Brighton. Unfortunately, the U12 team is out of the Cup for the season but Sunny also plays for the U13s and they are still competing.

Mr Wilson, Trinity’s Head of Football, says, “Sunny is a great example of the football talent we currently have at Trinity, and we’re looking forward to seeing his progress as he continues to train with Brighton, and develop his skills with the many opportunities there. He should be very proud of this achievement, well done!”

Sunny is one of several Trinity students who are signed to a Premier League academy, with others at clubs including Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
