Talented Lower Sixth student Corin recently competed at the Aquatics GB Diving Championships in Birmingham, her first senior competition. Despite being the youngest in the Women’s Platform competition, she secured a spot in the final with a new personal best and highest score ever on an individual dive (407c – 72.00 points).
Corin says, “I was excited for the challenge and experience of competing at a Senior National level for the first time. It was a brilliant opportunity to compete against other international divers – including an Olympian – and experience what a senior competition is like. I was very happy with my new personal best and coming fifth overall in the final.”

In her most recent international competition, the 8 Nations Diving Meet in Aachen Germany in March, Corin gained a silver medal in the Girls A (16-18) Platform competition where she represented Great Britain (pictured left).
Corin was introduced to diving at just 6 years old after attending a holiday course during half term. She says, “I really enjoyed it and afterwards it was suggested that I got what they called ‘talent tested’ which is where they test various skills which could indicate that you could be good at diving. After this, I was selected to join a squad and my training schedule, and love for the sport, grew from there.
“If I had to choose one thing I love about diving, I would probably say the rush you get when you’re stood there knowing you are about to fall 10m while somersaulting, and the thrill at the end when you hit the water and know that it was a good dive. I also particularly enjoy the social aspect of seeing my friends every day and training together in the pool and in the gym. It is also a brilliant way to meet lots of new people from different countries, places and backgrounds and getting to know them and their stories too.”
A recent Trinity alumna Anna Bradescu (Class of 2020) is also a top diver, and went to the US to dive at Georgia Institute of Technology, while completing a Bachelor’s in mathematics and a Masters in Analytics. Corin has known Anna for years as they trained together at Crystal Palace and see each other when Anna returns to the UK every summer to train at Dive London.
Corin says, “I have been looking to apply to the US for university for a while now as I have seen quite a few divers a bit older than me go there for university and come back speaking about what a great experience it is. It has just fuelled my excitement, and I am currently in the process of exploring my options.”
We wish you every success in diving and university applications, Corin!
