Recent leaver Isaac (Class of 2026) has completed his Trinity-Steinway Scholarship with a brilliant recital at Steinway Hall in London, bringing an extraordinary year of music and development to a close.
Over the course of the year, Isaac built a recital programme full of flair, colour and imagination, alongside the considerable physical and technical challenges of the repertoire. He demonstrated this brilliantly in a confident and persuasive final performance, which included a selection from Ravel’s Miroirs and Chopin’s mighty Fourth Ballade.
The annual Trinity-Steinway Scholarship is a unique collaboration between Trinity School, Steinway & Sons and the Royal College of Music, supporting an outstanding young pianist each year. As Trinity’s 2025-26 Steinway Scholar, Isaac received lessons with Professor Vanessa Latarche, Head of Piano at the Royal College of Music, alongside masterclass and performance opportunities. His year also took him to the Milan City Piano Festival to perform with other talented young musicians.
Reflecting on the experience, Isaac said: “This has been an extraordinary year and I feel that I have grown so much as a pianist and musician, but also as a person. I am so grateful for all of the amazing experiences I’ve had and feel lucky to have had so many great opportunities.”
When he was awarded the scholarship last year, Isaac said he hoped his Steinway Hall recital would be “a really special finisher to my time at school”. It proved a fitting conclusion to a musical journey at Trinity that has taken him from performing in local care homes to singing in an opera in Sweden.
Trinity became the first All-Steinway School in London in 2012 and has a fleet of 25 Steinway pianos, including two Model D concert grands. Its dedicated Steinway Suite provides specialist teaching, practice and research facilities for Trinity’s thriving community of young musicians.
After completing his A Levels in Trinity’s Sixth Form, including Music, Isaac is now heading to the Royal Northern College of Music to study piano. We wish him every success for this exciting next chapter.
