This week, the whole community was encouraged to think about our mental wellbeing and finding different ways to stay happy and healthy for Trinity Mental Health Week.
Miss Wiltshire, our Mental Health Lead, put together a fantastic programme of activities for the week, for staff and students to participate in.
A regular fixture is the Gong Bath, run by local company Nature Works, which took place this year in the TV Studio. Gong Baths are believed to help with stress reduction, anxiety relief, improved sleep, and enhanced creativity and was a memorable experience for all.
Another highlight of the week, was the visit from a local animal petting farm. Out in the bright sunshine in the Dell, students and staff were absolutely delighted to interact with various small animals including chicks, a pony, dog, ducklings and some were able to bottle-feed a new lamb.
We welcomed Wani Akintunde, a Whitgift alumni and the founder of upthegreatness, to deliver a workshop to our JBugs. It was an opportunity for the students’ assumptions about greatness to be challenged, and they were inspired to create a commitment statement to support their own goals. They were all very excited to meet and interact with Harlequins player George Hammond, who spoke about belief and his journey to success.
As always, the Library team create a quiet and relaxing space for students who need some time out during break or lunchtime. They added to their activities this week, with quiet crafts available including flower origami, the usual Wellbeing Wednesday featuring classical music and mindful colouring, Thoughtful Thursday in collaboration with our Knit and Natter Club and Feel good Friday where students could decorate a pot ready for planting seeds and aspirations.
As being outside in the green (and sunshine!) is proven to relieve stress and improve mental wellbeing, we have been encouraging staff and students to enjoy the spring weather as much as they can this week. The Trinity Garden Club runs every Friday lunchtime, and was also a destination for Mental Health Week.
Thanks to all who organised and participated in this week.
