A small group of Trinity’s elite musicians returned to Venice during the half term break for the annual recital series. The venues this year included the regular Palazzo Cavagnis and Palazzo Albrizzi Capello but also further afield in Villa Roberti, Brugine and Conservatorio Antonio Buzzolla in Adria.

This year’s touring musicians included the current Trinity Musician of the Year, Oliver; Steinway Scholar, Zain (Class of 2024), and the brilliant Trinity Piano Trio of Anne-Mei, Caden and Andrew.

This year, there was particular focus on Trinity’s first visit to Adria where the students performed in the beautiful new recital hall of the Conservatorio Antonio Buzzolla, which was a real highlight for all involved.

Mr Evans, Head of Piano and Venice tour lead, said, “All concerts were highly successful and well-received by the Venetian audiences. The musicians were outstanding throughout and gave stunning performances which thoroughly deserved the generous applause from the audience. Well done to them.”

Upper Sixth student Andrew, cello, said, “Performing in Venice has been an amazing opportunity for my musical journey. Being able to play at a professional level has given me the chance to develop my skills in a unique environment only offered through this trip. Aside from the music, spending four days in and around Venice has allowed me to explore the rich culture surrounding the city. Overall, touring in Venice has been an incredible experience that I will never forget.”

Third Year Oliver, violin (Trinity Musician of the Year), said, “The trip gave me a unique opportunity to share music with other people abroad and I also was able to enjoy free time with friends as well, having never been to Venice before. I found performing several concerts in such a short space of time challenging but became better at managing this. It gave me an insight as to what it would be like as a professional performer. Although all the venues were impressive, the musical highlight for me was performing in Adria because of the beautiful acoustic and the warm reception we received. It was also great to finish the trip with a free day for us to relax and explore Venice. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Upper Sixth student Anne-Mei, violin, said, “Performing in Venice this half term was such an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to play in beautiful venues to welcoming Venetian audiences, while also having time to visit historic landmarks such as Rialto bridge and of course eat some delicious food. I learnt so much and we made countless memories I will cherish.”

Upper Sixth student Caden, piano, said, “Venice for me was an unforgettable trip. Being able to perform in such a beautiful city was inspiring and the concerts we held in villas, palazzi and conservatoires taught me so much about the art of performance. With the amazing food and mostly-sunny weather, we all had a great time.”
