It’s been a big year for Fifth Year student Alexander Molony who played the leading role in Disney’s latest remake, Peter Pan & Wendy, released in April this year. He stars alongside British actor Jude Law as Captain Hook and Milla Jovovich’s daughter Ever Anderson as Wendy.

The making of the film was quite a long process, with Alexander originally landing the role in 2020. Filming was delayed until 2021 due to Covid and initial promotion of the film started at the Disney Expo in September 2022. At his first high-profile event, Alexander mingled with Hollywood ‘A’ listers and spoke to a live audience of 7,000 Disney fans about the film. He says, “I saw so many famous actors backstage like Jamie Lee Curtis and Jake Gyllenhaal, so it was quite intimidating. I was also worried my stammer would play up, but walking out on stage, I spoke in front of everyone and even enjoyed it! I’m a lifelong Disney fan and could feel the positivity from all the fans in the crowd.”

Fast forward to April this year, and it was time for the world premiere of Peter Pan & Wendy, hosted at the Curzon Mayfair, London. Alexander attended with all his castmates, working the red carpet, being interviewed by the top global entertainment media and posing for lots of photographs before watching the film for the first time. He spent days on press junkets, being interviewed by media from around the world who were reviewing the film: with The Telegraph calling it “the most beautiful, moving children’s film of the year.”

Alexander was delighted to be reunited with his cast-mates for this part of the film’s promotion. He said, “They’d become like family during filming, so being among them made me feel at ease. One of the biggest things I learnt from the whole experience was about professionalism; just from watching Jude Law, who was always so professional. We really connected during filming as had a lot of scenes together, so would chat in-between takes.”

As well as the global premiere, Alexander also attended the other big event: a special screening of the film at Trinity, with his classmates and fellow Drama scholars in attendance.

Alexander is now very much part of the Disney family, and since the release of Peter Pan & Wendy, he has attended Gala screenings and premieres of The Little Mermaid, Elemental and Indiana Jones.

We hope you enjoy every minute, Alex, well done!
