Back of the net! Congratulations to Fifth Year Ed Thomas who was recently recognised by his football club, Charlton AFC, as an U16 rising star.
Ed was presented with the 2025 Steve Clarke Trophy during half time of the first team match at The Valley a few weeks ago. According to Charlton AFC, the trophy is awarded to an U16s player who best represented the following qualities:
This is fantastic recognition for Ed, who has been training hard at Charlton since he signed a contract with them in May 2023. During this time, he has balanced his four training sessions a week, with commitments to Trinity Football, other sports and his academics.
While his current contract is coming to an end, he has been offered a new contract and will be leaving Trinity after his GCSEs to join Charlton AFC full-time.
Ed was nominated as Trinity’s Sportsplayer of the Month for March/April, following his success at Charlton. Mr King, Director of Sport, said, “Ed has recently been recognised by the club for his outstanding efforts and consistency on the pitch as well as in the classroom. At Trinity, Ed has continued to represent the school in multiple sports, demonstrating his dedication and versatility as an athlete. We wish him every success as he takes up a full-time contract with Charlton and have no doubt he has a bright future ahead of him.”
Well done Ed!
