Lower Sixth student Henry was one of 32 forwards selected for the England Rugby U18 Men’s Development Camp Squad during half term.

The camp was held at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre and brought together the best players in the country for their age, to test their positional skills and focus on individual progression.

Henry says, “I was delighted to be awarded the opportunity to attend the training camp as it pushed me to the next level, playing alongside and against the very best U18s in England.

“The camp was a tough few days, physically and mentally, but it was extremely rewarding and beneficial to my development as a player, with the elite facilities, coaching and resources.”

Henry started playing rugby when he was five years old at his local club, Twickenham RFC, and joined the Harlequins this season after spending the past two at London and South Central (formerly London Irish).

“During the half term, I also played for the Trinity 1st team at St Joseph’s Rugby Festival, which was overall a slightly disappointing weekend for us, but had some very good moments. This year, I’ve played all but two matches for the school and believe Trinity is really aiding me in my progress as an individual player.”

What is the dream? Henry admits, “Ideally, I would like to go pro in the next few years and play pro or semi-pro rugby as a career.”

Henry follows in the footsteps of many other students from Trinity School, Croydon, who have trained and played with England Rugby U18s, and gone on to play professionally. Most recently, last year’s Trinity Rugby Captain Lucas Friday (Class of 2024) is now playing for England U20s, as well as Harlequins and London Scottish.
