The annual Staff vs Upper Sixth Girls netball match is always a highlight of the school calendar, and this year’s game did not disappoint. With a crowd of students gathered to watch, the atmosphere was electric, and both teams were ready to put on a show.
From the first whistle, it was clear that the Upper Sixth girls meant business. Captain Lily led by example with excellent defensive work, making it clear why she’s been such a strong leader this year. Mimi and Tabs were a dynamic duo, darting across the court with impressive speed, while Lucy’s accuracy in front of the post kept the scoreboard ticking over.
On the other side, Headmaster Mr Kennedy was, as always, a force to be reckoned with. His ability to play almost every position on the court at some point in the match was both impressive and slightly chaotic – was he goal shooter or centre? Who knows! Mrs Baulf, Teacher of Economics and Business, also stood out with her defensive display that had the girls working for every goal.

Despite their valiant efforts (and some very creative interpretations of the footwork rule, as always), the staff couldn’t keep up with the relentless energy of the girls. The final score? A decisive 16-7 victory for the Upper Sixth girls! A fair and well-deserved win, though we suspect some staff members may already be drafting their revenge plans for next year.
To the Upper Sixth girls, congratulations! You will be greatly missed, but at least the staff can rest easy knowing they won’t have to face you again next year.
…
With thanks to Miss Gerlach, Teacher of RS who also played on the team today, for her match report.
Last year’s match ended with a very close victory to staff 17-16, what will next year bring?
