We are delighted to announce the three Lower Sixth students who have been named our new Heads of School. Congratulations to Oscar and Abi, who will be ably supported by Deputy Head of School Jacob.

The Heads of School are very special students who live and breathe the values of Trinity. They manage the Senior Prefect team and are entrusted with driving positive change within the school community and speaking to them, and for them, at public occasions.

Abi joined Sixth Form from Old Palace School and is a Drama Scholar, studying Economics, Drama, Government & Politics and English. She says, “My time at Trinity has been filled with surprises, even the circumstances in which I joined the school were in fact unprecedented. This, however, has been the greatest of them all; Head of School was something that I saw to be so far from my reach upon arrival. But it is an exciting challenge that I can’t wait to take on, especially because the role is so people focused and that’s something that I see to be my forte.

“Over the next coming year, I am so enthused that I can help the school oversee the fantastic endeavour of providing full coeducation, imparting knowledge on how to make the school a welcoming and comfortable space for everyone regardless of their identity. This role is something that I will not take lightly, and I am itching to get stuck in!”

Oscar is also a Drama Scholar and is studying Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science. He said, “I’m absolutely delighted to take on this role and so excited for the year ahead. It’s a privilege to actively contribute to positive change, especially as we prepare for the transition to full co-education – working alongside architects to design new spaces, and with the community to ensure we have a culture that’s ready for the future. I’m passionate about listening to the student voice, and I know that passion is shared by the other Heads of School; I’m looking forward to seeing the impact we can make over the next academic year.”

Jacob is studying Government & Politics, Geography and Spanish and is also a Drama Scholar! He said, “Taking on the role of Deputy Head of School is a true privilege. Ever since my first assembly at Trinity in 2018 as a JBug, I have looked up to the Heads of School with great admiration.

“There is no doubt that Trinity becoming coeducational marks a thrilling new chapter in the school’s history, particularly as we celebrate 60 years on the Shirley site. It is exciting that this year the Senior Prefects and Head of School team have the chance to help lay the foundations and create a lasting legacy that prepares the community for a successful transition to coeducation in 2027.

“Trinity has provided me with a rich variety of experiences – from living in Sweden for two months whilst performing in an opera to travelling to Morocco and riding a camel in the middle of the Sahara Desert – for which I am truly grateful, and as Deputy Head of School I look forward to being able to contribute meaningfully in return.

“As my time at Trinity draws to a close, I’m looking forward to making the most of every opportunity that comes my way. In particular, I’m especially excited to travel to Malawi with Trinity after my A Levels – an experience I know will be both impactful and unforgettable, not only for me, but more importantly the children of Chipwepwete Primary School.”

Mr Pietersen, Head of Sixth Form, said, “Huge congratulations to Abi, Oscar and Jacob as well as to the whole Senior Prefect Team. We asked all eight to think about how we can best prepare the student community in our transition to full co-education. They each presented their vision to the Head and the Sixth Form team, without prompts, and all eight were the most impressive set of students we have ever seen. They presented some fantastic ideas, and we’re really excited to work with the whole Senior Prefect team on delivering this vision.

“Abi, Oscar and Jacob stood out because of the level of respect they have from their peers, the esteem in which staff hold them and the clarity, originality and creativity they demonstrated in their presentations. Well done to them.”
