We’re delighted to be once again opening the doors to the Trinity Jazz Club.
This term our guests will be:
Michael L. Roberts – piano/vocals
Karen Sharp – sax
Joe Pettitt – bass
Rod Youngs – drums
+ Trinity Jazz Collective
“Britain’s answer to Kurt Elling” is how Michael Roberts was described in The Sunday Times. He’s toured and recorded with acts as diverse as Imelda May, John Dankworth, Supergrass, Frank Sinatra Jr. and Mark Murphy. Michael will be known to many at Trinity as he used to be our jazz singing and piano teacher.
Joining Michael is British Jazz Awards winner for Best Tenor Saxophonist 2019, Karen Sharp. On drums is Rod Youngs. One of London’s most in-demand players, his recording credits include Courtney Pine, Tony Kofi, Denys Baptiste, Byron Wallen and Gil Scott Heron. Our own Head of Jazz, Rock and Pop Joe Pettitt completes the quartet.
Trinity Jazz Collective is formed from some of the school’s most talented jazz musicians. They will be playing a set of instrumental and vocal numbers, inspired by Miles Davis, Chet Baker and Duke Ellington.
The evening will be held in the Sixth Form Centre where there will also be a cash bar. Entry is £12.50 but is free to all Trinity students. Doors open at 6.30pm and the music starts at 7.00pm. We anticipate the evening to finish just before 10.00 pm.
