The recent National Careers Week at Trinity once again saw us welcoming several of our alumni to speak with students about their diverse careers and roles. These sessions are well attended by current students who engage with our relatable and inspiring young alumni.

Georgia Nevitt, a Trinity bursary and academic scholar, left Trinity in 2015 to study Philosophy and Theology at the University of Nottingham. She returned during National Careers Week to give an insightful talk on her work in the Third Sector as a Housing First Coordinator for St Mungo’s, a leading homeless charity, and the impact of working in charitable organisations.

During her talk, Georgia highlighted the wide-ranging career opportunities within the highly rewarding Third Sector. She emphasised that charities rely on professionals across various fields, including finance, fundraising and campaign management, bid writing, policy and research, lobbying, marketing and communications, as well as senior leadership roles such as CEO, CCO, and CFO.

Lower Sixth student Benedict attended the talk and shared his reflections on the discussion. He said, “As part of Trinity’s National Careers Week, we were lucky to get a visit from alumna Georgia Nevitt, of St Mungo’s homeless charity, to discuss her role and experiences working in the Third Sector. I attended out of pure curiosity, having not heard much at all of former Trinity students working in the world of charities, however it really opened my eyes, and made me realise that charity work might really be something for me.

“Georgia discussed how almost everyone at some point in their lives will benefit from the support of a charity, knowingly or not, and also touched on how to get involved in local, national and international charity work, mainly through joining a young trustee program. We are often presented with career ideas that are focused on purely financial gain, so it was a breath of fresh air to hear Georgia speaking on such a meaningful and rewarding line of work. Many thanks to all those who organised this talk.”

A huge thank you to all our alumni who return throughout the year to share their experiences and inspire our students.

As well as talks from alumni and lessons on careers and future paths across the school, Trinity School in Croydon, hosted its inaugural Futures Fair, inviting students and parents from the school and neighbouring schools in to meet leading universities, corporates, higher education organisations and hear a programme of expert talks.
