It has been a fantastic week for Trinity’s cross country runners, with some impressive performances at the Croydon Schools Secondary Cross Country Championships and a particularly memorable double victory for Upper Sixth student Alex.

Alex enjoyed an outstanding two days of racing, winning the King’s Trophy cross country race in Wimbledon before returning to competition the very next day to be crowned Year 13 champion at Lloyd Park. Winning two races on consecutive days is a brilliant achievement and testament to Alex’s endurance, determination and consistency.

It was a standout performance in a week that saw Trinity runners making their mark across several age groups.

Strong performances at Lloyd Park

The Croydon Schools Secondary Cross Country Championships bring together runners from schools across the borough, competing over the challenging parkland course at Lloyd Park. With individual honours and team results at stake, it is a great opportunity for students to test themselves against some of the area’s strongest young runners.

Representing Trinity in the Junior competition were Elias, Mikey, Isaiah, Lucas, Rory, Joshua and Daniel. The team delivered a strong collective performance, with Elias finishing an excellent fourth and Mikey close behind in sixth. The four fastest finishers achieved a combined team score of 41.

Trinity’s Intermediate team comprised Leighton, Harry, Ryder, Serafym, Sam and Max, who produced a particularly impressive set of results. Leighton secured second place, with Harry finishing third and Ryder ninth, helping the team’s four fastest runners achieve a combined score of just 30. Even more encouragingly, five of the six runners are eligible to compete in the same competition again next year, making this a particularly promising result for the future.

The Senior team of Alex, Caitlin, Chloe and Dan rounded off a successful day for Trinity Sport. Alongside Alex’s Year 13 victory, Caitlin and Chloe secured second and third places respectively in the Year 13 event, completing an excellent set of individual results for Trinity’s Sixth Form runners.

Congratulations to everyone who represented Trinity this week.
