Students gathered for the much-anticipated Trinity60 Makers’ Market on Friday 1 April, raising money for the bursary fund as part of our 60th anniversary celebrations.
There were a total of 34 student-run and 6 staff-run stalls, selling a wide variety of handmade items from baked goods and handcrafted soaps to crocheted animals and homegrown baby tomato plants. The Concert Hall was buzzing with staff and students foraging among the stalls, and buying delicious treats and gifts for family and friends from our enterprising community. We are pleased to report that a fantastic total of £1,200 was raised across the stalls in just one lunch time, with all profits going towards the Trinity Bursary Fund!
We had two First Year student reporters on the ground, Jamil and Laurence, finding out what students and staff were selling and asking the vendors why it’s so important that we try and raise as much money as we can. Sixth Former Melanie commented on the importance of the event explaining that raising money for the Trinity Bursary Fund is important because “it gives the opportunity for other students to come to Trinity and it’s a way of us giving back to the community.”
Our on-the-ground reporters also visited lots of other stalls, and while there was an abundance of baked treats, there was lots of other interesting goods being sold as well. A highlight includes some lovely handmade soaps made by Mrs Hamizadeh, who explained that the fundraiser event was “all about supporting students and making sure we have diversity in our school!”
Finally, as the market ended one of our reporters Laurence reflected on the busy event saying, “My favourite part of the market was seeing all the differences in what everyone was selling, the fund is important because we want people to get the Trinity experience and see what a great school it is!”
Well done to all the students (parents) and staff who worked hard to contribute to the market, a fantastic effort and lots of money raised for the fund – thank you.
