Students from the Third Year to Lower Sixth recently had the opportunity to explore life and study in the United States at a lively drop-in session with representatives from High Point University (Carolina) and University of Vermont.
Held in the Sandison Room, the event formed part of the Futures Department’s ongoing commitment to supporting students with every post-school pathway, including international university applications. Throughout the session, students asked thoughtful questions about everything from the American education system and campus life to scholarships, sport and the application process itself.
There was a particularly strong turnout from the Third Year, with many students keen to understand what studying overseas could offer. Tom reflected afterwards, “Both universities have very attractive campuses, and I was interested to learn that it is essential to engage with the National College Athletic Association if I want to pursue a soccer scholarship.”
The event followed closely on from our recent Overseas Universities Workshop, hosted by The University Guys, which provided students with expert guidance on applying to universities outside the UK. Together, these opportunities reflect the growing interest among Trinity students in exploring global pathways after school.
Several Trinity students have gone on to study in the United States over the last few years, including Lucy Bullock (Class of 2023) and Kathy Rogers (Class of 2017), highlighting the breadth of opportunities available to students considering an international university experience.
By creating opportunities for students to speak directly with university representatives and specialists, Trinity’s Futures Department continues to encourage students to think ambitiously, ask questions and explore the wide range of possibilities available beyond Sixth Form.
