This week was National Careers Week, and students across the school took part in a range of talks and events designed to spark their thinking about future pathways.
The highlight of the week was the lively Futures Fair, which welcomed more than 700 attendees. The event gave students from Fourth Year and above, along with their families, the opportunity to explore the many options available after Trinity.
Following feedback from last year, the format was refreshed to include a large networking area where students could speak directly with working professionals alongside representatives from universities and alternative pathways.
We were delighted to welcome parents, governors and alumni representing a wide range of industries, from accountancy to public health. Students arrived well prepared with thoughtful questions, and there were many engaging conversations about the realities of different careers and the journeys that led people to them.

Alongside the networking space, the Futures Fair also hosted representatives from leading universities across the UK including Bath, Imperial, Loughborough and Swansea. The University Guys shared advice on applying to universities overseas, and there was guidance available on making the most of a gap year. Lower Sixth students and their parents enjoyed a talk from Exeter University extolling the virtues of degree apprenticeships and providing tips on applying for competitive courses.

The Futures and Alumni team also organised several additional careers events throughout the week. On Wednesday, we welcomed back alumnus Jaden Haynes (Class of 2017), now a Designer at Chelsea Football Club. Jaden spoke to students about his career journey and encouraged them to follow their interests, gain experience early and keep developing their skills. Although he was already designing T shirts while at Trinity, he took a non traditional route into the creative industries by studying History and Spanish at Manchester.

On Thursday morning, Fifth Year students heard from alumnus Tom Walklate (Class of 2007) who studied Geography at university and is now a Financial Planning Director at Rathbones. Tom spoke openly about the realities of working in finance, the range of roles within the sector and how students can begin exploring whether it might be the right path for them.
The Futures team supports students throughout their time at Trinity, and the door is always open for conversations about the many different routes and opportunities that lie ahead.
