Two Trinity brothers, James and Thomas R, have been busy using their building skills for a brilliant cause this Remembrance season – creating and selling handmade Lego poppies in aid of the Royal British Legion.

Back for the second year running, the brothers spent hours over half term assembling a new batch of the popular poppies, which they sold to staff and students for £2 each. The colourful creations have proved so popular they’re set to sell out, raising around £200 for charity.

James explained, “I think the poppies are important as they’re unique, which means people are more likely to buy them instead of the usual paper or metal ones. That means more money for charity, and more people supported.”

His brother Thomas added, “Making the poppies was really fun – not just because we love Lego, but because we knew it would all be worth it when we finished, as all the money was going to a great cause.”

The pair took inspiration from a poppy their mum bought last year, deciding to make their own and donate the proceeds to the Royal British Legion, which supports serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families.

A wonderful example of creativity, generosity and community in action – well done, James and Thomas!
