Our students have, yet again, demonstrated their musical talents in our music competitions that took place last week.
We welcomed external adjudicators to all competitions, who were very impressed with the standard of playing on show.
Congratulations to all who took part – find out more about the winners in each category:
The competition week ended with our Musician of the Year Recital Concert in our Concert Hall.
David Swinson, our Director of Music, said: “It would be easy to say that the standard rises each year, but this really is true. Eight competitors thrilled the audience with their recitals, which were quite exceptional. This year our adjudicator, composer Russell Hepplewhite, was asked to select three young musicians to perform a concerto with an orchestra early next term. As is often he case, audience members were divided in their selection of winners, but all agreed that they had witnessed an extraordinary celebration of young talent”.
Many congratulations to Charlie Davies, Alex Wong and Harry Jordan, who will now go forward to compete in the Concerto Final.
