Congratulations to Trinity School athletes Evan (Lower Sixth) and Dylan (Fifth Year) who played a key role in helping the Blackheath & Bromley Harriers Athletics Club win National Gold at the U17 National Finals of the Athletics Youth Development League 2025.

Both students played their part in the win, with fantastic individual performances:

  • Evan won Bronze in the 100m A final and claimed Gold in the 200m B final

  • Dylan, at just 15 years old, achieved a Personal Best of 49.41m in the Javelin, earning Silver in the A final.

Reflecting on his success, Evan said:

“I have been running with Blackheath & Bromley for nearly two years, after trying Athletics for games at Trinity. Last weekend’s races were extremely nerve-racking, especially the short 100m sprint as there is zero room for error and the pressure is immense. The feeling of flying down the home straight never gets old, particularly with the 200m, as the crowd roars behind you. I was ecstatic after coming 3rd in the 100m, despite a slow start, but filled with relief and joy after winning my 200m. It was a nice way to finish the track season and I am looking forward to next year.

Next year, I aim to smash my PBs and take my Athletics to the next level, perhaps changing to some form of longer sprints which I am excited to explore. I never would have found my love of Athletics without Trinity igniting the spark and I am forever grateful for the opportunities provided here.

The Athletics Youth Development League (Upper Age Group, U17) brings together the very best young athletes from across the country. This year’s national final was held at the Wavertree Athletics Stadium, Liverpool, on Sunday 7 September, in testing wet and windy conditions.
