This February half-term saw the return of our annual German Exchange programme with the Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium in Bonn.

Our Third and Fourth Year German students took part in cultural activities and school visits during the day, before spending the evenings and weekends with their exchange partner and their families.

Our students to experienced both school and family life in Germany; they saw how a typical German school day works compared to the UK, and were immersed in the language and the culture. The group really enjoyed the trip, finding that it helped their German improve and also helped them realise how much they were already able to communicate.

As well as attending school, the group explored Bonn and the nearby cities of Cologne and Trier, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Rhineland and learning about the history of Germany, from Roman times right up to the present day. They also took part in our traditional ‘England vs Germany’ football match against their exchange partners in the Cologne Sportmuseum.

Preparations are already underway for next year’s trip, and until then: Danke schön, Clara-Schumann!
