Charles Davies has been named the Trinity-Steinway Scholar for 2018-19.

Our top pianists were recently put through their paces at the auditions for our new Scholar. William Hardy, Charles Davies and Harry Jordan were selected as finalists.

Our three finalists presented their work at the Royal College of Music to Professor Vanessa Latarche, Head of Piano at the Royal College of Music; Mr Evans, Head of Piano at Trinity, and Mr Gorrie, our new member of the music team and an excellent pianist.

The standard of performance was, again, extremely high, and we were delighted to announce Charles as this year’s Steinway Scholar (pictured).

Professor Latarche commented “Year on year, Trinity’s pianists become more impressive and this decision becomes more difficult, but I am delighted for Charlie and look forward to working with him.”

Many congratulations to William and Harry for their excellent performances too, with both saying that “The RCM is so inspiring, it’s an amazing experience” .

Eliott Richards (Trinity-Steinway Scholar 2017-18) gave his Graduation Recital at Steinway Hall, London, earlier this month. It has been a fantastic year for Eliott and it was an amazing recital.
