We were delighted to hear on the last day of term that we have been shortlisted for the Independent School of the Year’s (ISOTY) Outstanding Educational Partnership Award for our work with primary schools.

Trinity has a long history of working with primary schools in the local area, and over the last few years we have developed an enhanced initiative called Trinity Partner Primary Schools (TPPS). We have been working closely with a small group of 16 primary schools to build stronger relationships, and deepen the impact of our partnership work.

This has resulted in a lot of new resources, competitions, engagement across multiple departments in the school. We enjoy inviting primary school pupils into Trinity, so they can experience our fantastic facilities, meet our staff and students, and get a taste of the variety of subjects on offer at a secondary school.

In addition, we recognise that it is not always easy to bring pupils to us, so we have devised a few programmes to offer the same unique experiences and educational content, delivered in their own schools.

Our Lessons in a Box do exactly what they say on the…box, and are designed to allow primary teachers to use equipment we provide for science, art, drama or computer science, that they may not have access to.

We launched a Travelling Band, which sees some of our talented student musicians play music (ranging from classical to pop) to primary schools during their assemblies and talk about their instruments and playing. We try and match our students with their former primary schools, so there’s an additional connection and they are seen as aspirational role models.

Our teachers also support primary staff with CPD sessions in sport.
