This week, Trinity School buzzed with scientific excitement as we celebrated British Science Week 2025! The theme of “Change and Adapt” provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore the dynamic world of science and its impact on our lives.

The week kicked off with our annual Science Competition on Monday, showcasing the incredible talent and ingenuity of our students. We were overwhelmed with over forty impressive entries, ranging from meticulously crafted 3D printed wind tunnels and detailed model Martian habitats to the ever-popular (and entertaining!) “Spice Challenge,” which explored the fascinating ways humans adapt to spicy foods.

Tuesday saw the highly anticipated Trinity Science Live! event, where we welcomed guest speakers from local universities. Their insightful presentations offered a glimpse into cutting-edge scientific research, with a particular highlight being Matt Bothwell’s captivating talk on the discovery of over thirty potentially habitable exoplanets within our galaxy. It certainly sparked some lively discussions about the future of space exploration!

As well as our own GCSE and A Level science students benefitting from these expert views, we invited groups from three local secondary schools to join us. The day ended with two of Trinity’s recent alumni discussing their own journeys into STEM careers, with Dan Gilbert (Class of 2019) now a Research and Development Test Engineer at Red Bull Racing and Yunus Skeete (Class of 2018) working as an AI engineer.

The week culminated in a series of exciting lunchtime events. Students were enthralled by Dr. Manchester’s explosive “Flash Bang Chemistry Show” (see pic), puzzled by Miss Manisier’s captivating optical illusions, and gained valuable insights into the intricacies of human anatomy through dissections in the Biology lab.

It was a truly inspiring week, and we are incredibly proud of our students’ enthusiasm and engagement. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making British Science Week 2025 such a resounding success at Trinity School!
