The Trinity Concert Hall played host to last week’s episode of Question Time, the fourth time we have welcomed the BBC crew and high-level political panellists to the school.

The production team hired the space through our Enterprise team and were on-site for 1.5 days to set up, rehearse and film the episode. A large take-over creates a bit of buzz around the school, with the iconic set taking over the Concert Hall and students trying to catch a glimpse as they walked by.

While operating the school day as normal, we were able to accommodate the full production: the Sandison Room became the production office, Fiona Bruce had her hair and make-up done in our Interview Room, our main school Meeting Room looking out on the quad welcomed the panellists as a Green Room and audience members waited in our Student Dining Room before being ushered into the Concert Hall for filming. At the same time, we were also hosting award-winning playwright Jessica Swale who had come to the opening night of our Sixth Form production of Blue Stockings held in the Mitre Theatre – we’re a busy school!

Last year, some of our A Level Politics students acted as panellists for the rehearsal with Fiona Bruce, which was a brilliant experience and a test of their political knowledge.

This year, the guests included Labour’s Wes Streeting, Conservative Helen Whately, Liberal Democrat Josh Babarinde, The Green Party’s Caroline Lucas and Reform UK’s James Orr.

The BBC production manager commented, “It was truly lovely to work with you and your team. I do love your school and everyone is so very welcoming and friendly. The catering was fantastic (as usual).  The programme was great and the audience went away happy.”

With a variety of venue hire options including sports facilities, music and drama facilities, classrooms, filming locations and more, Trinity School in Croydon has a lot to offer.
