Trinity has recently launched a new initiative to support our local primary school partners. Lessons in a Box have been developed by our Heads of Departments and provide exciting props and resources, not always available at primary schools, to deliver inspiring and challenging sessions to complement their curriculum.
We have a long history of working with primary schools in our locality, and last year we launched our Trinity Partner Primary Schools initiative. The aim is to work more closely with a small group of 16 primary schools to deepen the impact of our partnership work. Lessons in a Box is a new part of this work and enables schools to enjoy our resources without travelling to the site.
Everything the primary school teachers need to deliver the lessons is in the box, and there has been training on coding available for teachers looking to deliver the robotics lesson. Schools can keep the Lessons in a Box for two weeks and use as much as possible across different age groups and classes.
Topics covered include:
Feedback has been positive, with Howard Primary School reporting after the Art Lesson in a Box, “Our children really loved it! We decided to go with a sea life theme for our final prints, in connection with our English text – My Friend the Octopus. The children really enjoyed experimenting with combs, brushes, stamps and shapes etc to create their own textured piece.” We think the pupils produced some gorgeous pieces, well done!
We’ll continue to develop the programme and work with our primary school partners to understand how we can support them best. If you are interested in finding out more about Lessons in a Box, please contact: Mrs Long, TPPS Co-ordinator at Trinity School, Croydon, on azl@trinity.croydon.sch.uk
