This Christmas, Trinity Drama will present a new version of the classic children’s fantasy epic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis as this year’s whole school production.
The production will be co-directed by Mr Chambers, Head of Drama Productions, and students Dhyan and James – taking inspiration from ‘fearless director’ Emma Rice – and promises to be a magical evening of family entertainment.
The play will feature original music and songs written by Mr Chambers, with Upper Sixth student Mimi returning as principal songstress, following the success of her role as Dorothy in last year’s Wizard of Oz. She will be accompanied by a small live band and a student chorus, together providing the musical soundtrack.
A cast and crew of over 70 students, plus an army of staff and volunteers will bring to life the snowy forest and magical creatures of Narnia.
We are delighted to announce that some of our new Lower Sixth Form girls, and A Level Drama students, will be taking on the roles of Lucy (Ellie), Susan (Fatima), Mrs Beaver (Abi) and the white witch (Beni).
Other principal roles will be played by students James (Edmund), Oscar (Peter), Ashvin (Aslan) and Maksim (Mr Tumnus). Congratulations to everyone who auditioned, there were over 90 students; the standard was very high, and we hope anyone who was disappointed will get involved in the Lower and Middle School production in the spring term.
There will be some very exciting special effects and epic staging ideas, from new Technical Manager Ellie White, to highlight the climactic moment of Aslan’s death, with the magical set being created by professional designers.
The stunning poster features work from Upper Sixth A Level Art student Ananya and details of tickets will be available soon. Save the dates: Thursday 5 until Saturday 7 December 2024 at Trinity School, Croydon.
