Last weekend, five students from across the school took part in the Trinity Group Inter-school climbing competition. The team was comprised of Joe Cassidy, Isaac Proud, Caden Cheong, Elliot Secord and Bhumit Madan and the event was hosted by the newly opened Substation in Brixton.
Pitted against teams from seven other schools, the boys tackled 15 routes of increasing difficulty (V1-V8) with a maximum of three attempts on each problem. Points were awarded only for successful attempts with 10 points for a ‘flash’ (1st try) and dropping off on subsequent tries.
The competition was extremely strong and the boys had to dig very deep, showing grit, excellent technique, creative problem solving and teamwork to come through as overall team silver medallists!
Particular mention goes to Isaac Proud in the Fifth Year who also won the overall Individual silver medal, flashing the first nine problems: seriously impressive stuff!
This was the first of a series of competitions this year; we’re excited by the challenges to come!
