Two members of Trinity’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) have been recognised for their outstanding commitment and service, receiving prestigious honours from His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, at Yeomanry House.
Sqn Ldr (Ret’d) Ray Dunkley was awarded a Certificate of Commendation in recognition of his many years of dedicated volunteering with Trinity CCF and the wider Cadet Forces. With over 40 years of involvement in the cadet movement, his commitment has been remarkable. Despite ‘retiring’ on several occasions, he has consistently returned to support the Corps whenever needed, embodying a deep sense of service and generosity.
Cdt CSgt Eloise (Lower Sixth) was appointed Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet (CCF) for the coming year, the highest honour that can be awarded to a cadet. This prestigious role recognises Eloise as one of the leading CCF cadets across London. During her tenure, she will support the Lord-Lieutenant at official events and may assist during royal visits.
Eloise has been a member of the CCF for many years, and reflecting on the award, she said, “Receiving the Lord-Lieutenant’s award was a great honour and I hope to fulfil the role to the utmost of my ability. Trinity CCF has given me so many opportunities and I am very grateful to have been put forward for this award, for which I can thank Major Muirhead. CCF is a great way to meet new people and try new things. It has boosted my confidence and taught me many transferable skills, as well as enabling me to achieve a BTEC qualification in the Sixth Form.”
Major Muirhead, Contingent Commander, added, “These awards demonstrate how much can be achieved through participation in the cadet forces. They also show the high regard in which both recipients are held, both within the Corps and beyond. Competition for these awards, particularly the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet role, is extremely strong. I am delighted for them both.”
This is a wonderful recognition of their dedication, and of the strength of Trinity’s CCF, well done to both!
