Trinity student, Ollie Briars, has just completed a very successful first track season as a U17 400m athlete.
Achieving a time of 48.85, Ollie has placed 2nd in the country alongside athletes a year older than him.
This season Ollie secured two gold medals at the Kent County and South of England Championships; three silvers at the Surrey Schools, English Schools and England Athletics Championships, and bronze at the Schools International Athletics, where he represented England.
Ollie also competed in the School Games at Loughborough as part of a relay team. Although Ollie was out of action for the rest of the weekend following a foot injury during the race, he was recognised for showing the best spirit of the games in his decision to try and not let the team down.
Ollie also competes for his club, Blackheath and Bromley, in the Youth Development League and Southern Athletics League. He was also the only male, first year U17 team member in his club’s team at the European Club Championships in Spain.
