Released just in time for the Christmas break is the latest edition of The Economic Review 2024, a student-led publication produced by Upper Sixth Economics A Level students. This edition has been co-edited by the President and Vice President of the Economics and Business Society – Caitlin and Matthew.

The issue explores current affairs and economic concepts through a range of articles written by A Level students, covering topics from the state of the US economy to subverting the generic 9-5 five-day working week. Read the full publication here: The Economic Review 2024

Caitlin says, “We are grateful that our amazing alumni community has provided us with interviews and advice about future careers and next steps. We hope that it will encourage students to engage with economic issues and spark an interest in the subject for those who might follow a similar career path.

“This edition would not have been possible without our fabulous group of student and alumni writers: Toby Fry, Thushan Peiris, Taisei Masumoto, Conor Maguire, Aayan Samanta, Bilal Ismail, Zain Mirza, Lucy Ellis-Keeler, Lev Titov, Max Sherwood and Nathan Thomas.”

Caitlin continues, “Producing this edition of the Economics Review has been an extremely rewarding process. It has allowed me to develop better organisational and design skills which will undoubtedly help me in the future. It would not have been possible without our contributors and the support and encouragement of the Economics/Business and Alumni departments; I hope it inspires other students to look into careers in Economics and Business.”

Matthew agrees, “Producing the magazine was an enjoyable challenge. It was made easier in part due to the willingness of our writers to contribute their articles, as well as the amazing help provided by Mrs Lewis to get in contact with our alumni. Perhaps the most challenging aspect was the editing of the magazine, and without Caitlin’s abilities on Canva we might not have had a magazine at all! It was particularly interesting to see the routes the alumni had taken post-Trinity and the many corridors open to those studying economics.”

Mr Orungbamade, Head of Economics and Business, says, “This is a remarkable magazine and truly reflects the creativity, hard work, and passion of our talented Economics and Business students. The articles offer fresh insights and perspectives on contemporary economic and business topics. Of note are the mind-blowing interviews conducted by the students with Trinity Alumni, especially those with Economics and Business backgrounds, which add a professional depth to this outstanding publication.

“I must highlight the steadfastness and dedication of Caitlin and Matthew, who have championed this project from start to finish. Their efforts in writing, editing, and managing the magazine have been pivotal in bringing this initiative to fruition. Please take some time to explore The Economics Review and enjoy the brilliant contributions of our students. It is a true testament to their skills and a fantastic representation of our department’s work in particular and our school – Trinity – in general.”
