Last weekend saw the first full block of Rugby fixtures take place on Saturday. The U12s and U13s played Caterham School at Home and the U14s, U15s, U16s, 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams all played Cranleigh School, Away.

Mr. Roberts, Trinity’s Head of Rugby, gives a run-down of the action on the pitch: “After a few weeks of training, it was fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm from teams across the school as they played their first matches of the season. Many boys in the U12s played their first ever matches, and there were multiple stand-out performances from the over 70 boys involved.

“The U13s also had a successful start with Manuel Akoto picked out in the A team for the incredible progress he has shown. The U14A-D teams all impressed too, with the defensive work of the C and D teams particularly notable as they conceded only 1 try between them.

“The U15A team won an extremely tough fixture which helps to build excitement ahead of their first national cup fixture in a few weeks’ time. Harry Boland was picked out for his excellent defence in the U15C team, as they made an incredible come back from 26 points down.

“The U16s were probably the age group of the week as the A-C teams showed tremendous spirit against an incredibly strong Cranleigh year group. Special recognition must go to the U16C team (pictured left) who stuck together and continued to work hard despite some tough results last year. Whilst winning is far from the most important thing, I was so happy for the boys to see them start the season with a positive result.

“Finally, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams all put in strong performances to start the season and helped to generate more excitement for the year ahead. They will each look to build on those performances at the next fixtures against Langley. Well done to all involved.”
