We are delighted to introduce our new Heads of School for the coming academic year. Congratulations to Lower Sixth students Mafeng and Sophie, who have been appointed as Heads of School, alongside Danny, who takes on the role of Deputy Head of School.

Selected for their integrity, leadership and commitment to the Trinity School community, the Heads of School play an important role in student life. They lead the Senior Prefect team consisting Rosie, Eloise, Rishi, Tom and Anna, represent the student body at school events and work closely with staff to champion new ideas and ensure student voices are heard.

New Head Boy Mafeng joined Trinity as a JBug and is now studying Chemistry, Biology and Further Maths A Levels. He said, “I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed Head of School. I believe this role means leading the school by embodying the changes I seek to implement within the student body and upholding the values that make Trinity what it is, a potter’s house (where every student is encouraged to grow and be shaped into the best version of themselves), from the very front.

“Whilst in JBugs I didn’t really know anything about the Heads of School, but I do remember my first assembly. Looking at the stage, seeing the Heads speak, I thought to myself that I could never be in that role.

“The school has brought out the best in me and had allowed me to grow into a person who is more outspoken, a person that can stand on stage to speak in front of the whole school. Being Head of School means that the younger students will look up to me as a role model and I hope that will encourage students to make the best of the opportunities they have and to embark on their own metamorphosis as I have. I want every student at Trinity to engage with all that the school offers them as they will end up going further than they ever though they could.”

New Head Girl Sophie joined from Croydon High School as she wanted to be in a mixed environment before heading to university and has been embracing every opportunity on offer across academics and sport while studying for A Levels in English, Geography, Spanish and French. She says, “It is a privilege to have been appointed one of the Heads of School, and I am excited to work with Mafeng and Danny, as well as the rest of the Senior Prefect team, especially in preparing for co-education and being positive role-models throughout the school.

“I am particularly looking forward to having a key role at admissions and taster events, sharing the amazing experiences I have had here since joining, as well as giving back to the school community and leading positively by example. Looking to Year 13, I am looking forward to having the opportunity to go to Malawi, and getting involved in impactful community work to make a positive difference to the lives of young people. I am also excited to welcome new girls into the Sixth Form, and continue to contribute to Trinity’s truly special community.”

Deputy Head of School Danny joined Trinity in the First Year and is currently studying Geography, Economics and Maths A Levels. He says, “I am immensely proud to have been elected Deputy Head of School for the coming year. Trinity has played a huge role in shaping who I am today, and having the opportunity to help lead the school is a real honour. I recognise how much the people around me have given for me to be in the position I am today, and for that I am incredibly grateful.

“One of my main aims as a leader at Trinity is to inspire younger students. I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years at the school so far, creating memories, developing skills, and forming friendships that I will carry with me for life. I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can encourage younger students to make the most of every opportunity Trinity offers and to take pride in being part of the Trinity community.

“Next year, I look forward to working alongside Mafeng, Sophie, and the rest of the Senior Prefect Team. Together, we will support Trinity as it prepares for the transition to full coeducation in September 2027. I am confident that, by working closely with staff, students, and parents, we can help guide the school through what will undoubtedly be a challenging yet rewarding period.”

Mr Pietersen, Head of Sixth Form, commented, “We are absolutely delighted with our team of Senior Prefects this year, all of whom interviewed fantastically for the Head of School role – a challenging process, which involves a panel presentation to the Headmaster and members of the Sixth Form Team. Whilst all who interviewed would have done a brilliant job, Mafeng and Sophie stood out for their values, strong communication and leadership skills, and the confidence that their peers have in them. We are certain they will be outstanding, and look forward to the impact they will have on the school community.”
