Congratulations to a group of talented maths students who took part in the United Kingdom Maths Trust (UKMT) Junior Olympiad Challenge last term. They were invited to take part after completing the Junior Mathematical Challenge earlier in the year.
The students were then First Year Arihant Tripathy and Second Years Nakutalab Debebe, Alexander Graham, Imaad Khan and Aarian Nair. All students deserve credit for tackling the two-hour challenge consisting of 16 problems in two sections, with Section B requiring full written solutions.
A very special mention goes to Arihant who achieved a Merit, despite being one of the younger students, and Naku who achieved a Distinction and was awarded a bronze medal for his impressive score. Naku was just one mark off a silver medal, and a whisker away from ranking in the top 100 of all First- and Second-Year mathematicians nationally, an outstanding result.
We know there is more to come from these boys – well done to all!
