This week, the school came together for our last Charity Day of the year, rebranded for one time only as Malawi Monday. It was a chance for the Trinity Malawi team to work alongside our Charity Committee to raise money for Chipwepwete, our partner primary school in Malawi.

At break time, the outside area near the Student Entrance buzzed with activity as each form ran a fundraising stall or event. From bake sales and dart matches to smoothie making, there was something for everyone – all in aid of a wonderful cause.

Adding to the day’s spirit, Mr Coma designed bespoke Trinity Malawi Project wristbands, which were snapped up by staff and teachers for £1 each. Students also contributed by donating for the privilege of wearing non-uniform for the day.

The undisputed highlight of the day was the lunchtime ‘Splash the Teacher’ event, the brilliant idea of form 1D, and enthusiastically brought to life by their form tutor Miss Deas.

With buckets, sponges, and a whole lot of laughter, students queued up for the chance to soak some brave (and possibly slightly apprehensive) staff volunteers. The buckets couldn’t be refilled fast enough! Thankfully, the glorious weather kept spirits high and soggy teachers smiling. Some staff may have been especially relieved that our cricketers were away – the accuracy of some sponge-throwers was questionable at best! A particular moment of excitement was when Headmaster Mr Kennedy stepped up as a target – equal parts thrilling and terrifying for those taking aim.

It was a day filled with fun, teamwork, and generosity – and together, we raised an incredible £2,000 for the Trinity Malawi Project. This year’s funds will go towards completing a new classroom block at Chipwepwete, providing the youngest students with a sheltered, well-equipped learning space – complete with desks and chairs – instead of learning outside.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Malawi Monday such a success.
