Trinity School students are celebrating an outstanding set of LAMDA exam results over the last 12 months, with 26 Distinctions among 33 results across Acting and Speaking Verse and Prose.
Students from across Trinity achieved success from Grade 2 through to Grade 8, including Distinctions at the highest level for Ellie, James and Emilija in Acting, and Rishi and Sapphy in Speaking Verse and Prose.
LAMDA qualifications, offered by the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, give young people the opportunity to develop performance and communication skills alongside recognised qualifications. Through preparing and performing texts, students build confidence, creativity and resilience, while learning to communicate clearly, explore different perspectives and respond to challenge.
Those wider skills are something Trinity students themselves recognise.
Nathan, who achieved a Distinction in Grade 2 Acting, said: “I have enjoyed exploring the different personalities of my two different characters.”
For Christian, who earned a Distinction at Grade 4, LAMDA provided a chance to tackle a very different challenge: “I overcame the difficulties of speaking with confidence.”
As students progress through the grades, the demands increase, encouraging greater independence and a deeper understanding of character, language and performance. Ishaan, who achieved a Distinction in Grade 5 Acting, said: “I enjoyed developing my understanding of how two different characters can have such different personalities, which will help me in the future when I’m playing other characters.”
At Grade 8, students reflected on how far those skills can extend beyond an examination. Sapphy said she had developed her “cultural knowledge of Shakespeare’s wider influence”, while James summed up his experience simply: “It’s all about building the confidence to express emotions in performance.”
LAMDA is one of the many opportunities for Trinity students to develop their confidence and creativity through drama and performance, both within and beyond the classroom.
Congratulations to every student on their achievements, and to specialist LAMDA teacher Miss Reeve for supporting them throughout their LAMDA journeys.
