Trinity was delighted to welcome 14 students from our partner school, the Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium in Bonn, for the latest leg of our long-running German exchange.

Arriving on Wednesday, the students stayed with Trinity host families for a week, immersing themselves fully in school life. They joined lessons alongside their exchange partners, took part in lunchtime and after-school activities including music, drama and sport, and embraced every opportunity to experience life at Trinity.

Beyond the classroom, our guests explored London’s landmarks with visits to Madame Tussauds, Borough Market, and the Natural History Museum, as well as a hands-on drama workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe.

At the end of the visit, the Bonn students spoke warmly of the welcome they had received and the generosity of their host families, who arranged some truly memorable weekend trips. The exchange continues in February, when our Trinity students travel to Germany to experience school life, German food and the famous Karneval celebrations.

Third Year students Fin G and Edward W wrote the following account together:

Loosely translated (thanks Google!) as: “This week, fourteen Year 9 students from Bonn (Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium) visited Trinity. The Bonn students spent a day with Year 9 and were surprised by our long day; their school finishes at 1.00pm! On the other days, they went to central London, visited museums, and learned a lot about central London, especially the scam tourist shops on Oxford Street. At the weekend, the Trinity and Bonn students were free to do whatever they wanted. Many people went to Brighton to play rugby (unfortunately for the Bonn students), and others went to central London for a speedboat ride. We loved the Bonn students and are excited to visit them in Germany in February. Overall, we hope the Bonn students had fun. It was a great time.”

With thanks to our host families for looking after our German guests so well.
