Huge congratulations go to Second Year student, Leo Jemison, for his role in Garsington Opera’s recent Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Best New UK Opera Production.

Our Director of Music, Mr Swinson, comments: “We have been providing boy singers for productions at Garsington Opera, near Oxford, for ten years and we were thrilled to learn yesterday that their production of Britten’s The Turn of The Screw from 2019 has been awarded the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award for the Best New UK Opera Production.

“This is the most prestigious prize in the world of opera. An important part of the production’s success was the casting of Leo Jemison as Miles, one of the most significant and challenging roles in the opera. Well done Leo!”

“Leo was an extraordinary and wonderful member of The Turn of the Screw cast at Garsington Opera. We are so proud to have won the RPS Award for Opera & Music Theatre for the production; his haunting performance played a huge part in its success. Thank you Leo and Trinity School!” adds Douglas Boyd – Artistic Director, Garsington Opera.

The full opera can still be streamed for free online here.
