We were delighted to welcome our new Lower Sixth students to Trinity this week, to begin their journey into Sixth Form life. The induction programme started with a lively team-building session designed to help students connect, collaborate and build friendships that will support them throughout their A Level studies.
Although the activities were originally planned for the sports fields, heavy rain meant the action was moved indoors to the Sports Hall – but the change of location did nothing to dampen spirits. With challenges that encouraged communication, problem-solving and teamwork, the atmosphere was buzzing as students worked together to overcome tasks and get to know one another.
Ms Boorman, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, said, “We loved welcoming our incoming Lower Sixth this week on Wednesday’s induction. Students new to Trinity spent the morning orientating themselves and meeting their form tutor, before our upcoming students joined them for an afternoon with the whole year group together for the first time. The afternoon activities were designed to encourage students to meet as many people as possible and to test their communication skills. WiseUp ran teambuilding tasks in the Sports Hall, while our Sixth Form staff worked on key communication skills with our students. The students seemed to have lots of fun, despite the inevitable nerves and awkwardness! Next week, we host day two of induction, during which students start thinking about the UCAS and A Level mindset, along with considering their future goals. We also mix them with our Upper Sixth for an excellent mixer session to really gel both year groups.”
This year’s induction builds on earlier opportunities for students to meet at the pre-Sixth Form Quiz (held last term), the new joiners’ dinner, and pre-season training, ensuring that all Lower Sixth students feel part of the Trinity community from the very start.
We wish all our new and returning students the very best as they embark on their Sixth Form journey at Trinity School in Croydon, an independent school with a thriving co-educational Sixth Form.
