On Sunday 1 March, Trinity hosted the British History Bee and Bowl Championships. Eleven visiting schools gathered to take part in this highly regarded competition, teams from schools including City of London School, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Eton, King’s School Canterbury and Tonbridge, battling it out in up to six rounds of History-related questions.
Trinity fielded six teams drawn from across all year groups and competed strongly against the various teams. The competition was completed in two parts. The Bowl saw students compete as a team and the Bee saw students compete individually. As ever, the standard of competition was exceptionally high, with newcomers Cheltenham Ladies’ College posing a particularly strong challenge alongside City of London School and Eton. Both our teams and individual contestants did extremely well, coming away with strong individual and team placings.
Results were as follows:
For the individual Bee competition, Seb and Oscar both competed against strong opponents. Upper Sixth student Seb came a respectable second place out of 40 competitors with First Year Oscar also placing a strong second in the Elementary division.
Commenting on the day, First Year Oscar said, “The last team match was very close and I was very nervous, so I was really happy we won. This is one of the first proper competitions and first History Bee I’ve been involved in, so I learnt a lot about them as well as some new history facts.”
Well done to all the students who competed, an excellent and enjoyable day of competition.
