The girls’ indoor hockey team made history this week, becoming the first Trinity girls’ side ever to win an indoor hockey match – and they didn’t stop there. With two wins from three games, the team’s fantastic performance also secured qualification for the London Finals.

Playing only their second competitive fixture in our history of girls’ hockey, the team opened their campaign with a thrilling 2–1 victory over Kingston Grammar School. After a tough loss to KCS Wimbledon, they regrouped for a decisive final game against Emanuel. Showing composure and confidence, they came from 1–0 down to win 2–1, with Rosie LG scoring the winner.

Head of Hockey Mr Giles praised the team’s resilience and togetherness throughout the tournament. He said, “The team grew in confidence from game to game and showed real courage and spirit throughout. Considering the girls have only been playing as a team for a matter of weeks, the fact they have gelled so quickly and have been able to perform at this level against teams who have played together for years, is remarkable. Well done to them.”

Throughout the tournament, Lower Sixth student Poppy K made some fantastic saves, Upper Sixth student Isabelle T pressed exceptionally well in the forward line and Lower Sixth student Eloise B was excellent tackling and distributing  from the back.

Congratulations to the whole squad: Poppy K, Sophie C, Eloise B, Rosie LG, Isabelle T, Nell LO, Zara T, Olivia O and Georgina B.

This performance marks another exciting milestone in the growth of girls’ sport at Trinity as we prepare to welcome girls in Year 6 and 7 for the first time in 2027 (more information on that here). An elite hockey astro was laid during the summer, as part of the investment in facilities that benefit all students.
